Municipality Providing the Cheapest Water

Alemdar emphasized that efforts for sustainable and potable water resources are ongoing and said:

“Recently, global warming and water stress have been increasing steadily. If we do not use water in a balanced way and protect it, we will face serious water problems. Water cannot simply accumulate through rainfall and be carried into the future; therefore, we must practice serious conservation. Our data shows that we have reduced water consumption by 11% solely through saving measures. In addition to being the municipality that provides the cheapest water, we are rapidly progressing toward becoming the municipality that uses water in the most efficient way. We continue our efforts to find new resources, especially through Lake Sapanca, streams, and water drilling.”

Lake Sapanca

SASKİ General Manager Seyit Sakallıoğlu stated that water is of vital importance not only regionally but also globally. Emphasizing that they continue to protect water and combat losses and leakages, Sakallıoğlu said:

“The issue of water affects not only today but also our future. The decrease in rainfall levels shows us that water is not just a resource but a strategic value. At the same time, we continue to take necessary measures regarding Lake Sapanca, which is the most important water source of our city. As SASKİ, we are renewing our infrastructure in all 16 districts to prevent water losses.”

Global Warming

Sakarya Governor Rahmi Doğan said:

“The process that started with global warming is increasingly intensifying due to environmental pollution. In this context, we must protect our water resources and act consciously in terms of conservation. If we fail to protect our resources, we may face undesirable situations. Although it may seem that Sakarya has sufficient water resources, we will continue to protect them. We have supported our Metropolitan Municipality, especially regarding Lake Sapanca and its surroundings, and we will continue to do so.”
