Sakarya's industrial sector is preparing for the European Green Deal, carbon footprint measurement, and the transition to sustainable manufacturing.
Providing information about the initiative, Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) President Akgün Altuğ announced that the Chamber will establish a Green Transformation Laboratory under the GreenShift Project to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adapt to the green transformation process.
Altuğ stated that work on the project officially began on January 15, adding:
"We are living in an era where green standards are shaping the future of global trade. To help our SMEs adapt to this transformation, we are nearing the completion of our European Union-supported GreenShift Project, which we are implementing in partnership with the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry and the Antwerp-Waasland Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Belgium. The project's total budget is €145,000, of which €122,000 has been provided as a grant by the European Union. Its primary objective is to prepare Sakarya's industrial sector for the European Green Deal, carbon footprint measurement, and sustainable manufacturing practices. As part of the project, we are transforming Meeting Hall No. 2 within our Chamber into a fully equipped Green Transformation Laboratory and Capacity Development Center with advanced computer infrastructure. In addition, through the e-learning platform we are developing, our members will have continuous access to digital training programs covering topics such as energy efficiency and compliance with European Union regulations, creating an educational network that extends beyond physical classrooms. In the coming period, we will launch face-to-face training sessions, one-on-one mentoring programs, carbon footprint assessments, and international business matchmaking activities. We will also organize capacity-building programs for university students to help meet the industry's growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of green transformation."
