Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı Appointed Rector of SUBÜ
The long-awaited rectorial appointment at Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) has been made. In accordance with a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette, Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, who has held senior administrative and academic positions at various levels of the university since its establishment, has been appointed as SUBÜ’s new rector.
Who Is Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı?
Having graduated from the Faculty of Technical Education at Gazi University in 1990, Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı began his professional career as a teacher at Kırşehir Technical and Industrial Vocational High School, where he worked from 1990 to 1993.
In 1994, Tatlı went to the United Kingdom on a scholarship from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to pursue his master’s and doctoral studies. He completed his postgraduate studies in materials engineering at Newcastle University. Following his doctorate, he continued his academic and research activities at Newcastle University in the UK and in Ireland.
Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı served as a faculty member at Sakarya University (SAÜ) from 2002 to 2018. During this period:
· He was awarded the title of associate professor in 2011.
· He served as Director of Karasu Vocational School from 2012 to 2018.
· He was appointed to a professorship in 2017.
Following the establishment of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences in 2018, he continued his work in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Technology. Tatlı simultaneously served as director of the Graduate Education Institute and the School of Foreign Languages from 2018 to 2022. From 2022 to 2026, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Technology.
Scientific Research and Publications
Prof. Dr. Zafer Tatlı’s research focuses primarily on materials science and engineering, advanced ceramics, bioceramics, composite materials, and manufacturing technologies.
His academic career includes more than 70 articles and conference papers, over 25 national and international projects, and more than 600 academic citations.
