The Sakarya Provincial Election Board has reviewed an objection filed by Murat Ekşi, a member of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) Assembly, on six grounds concerning the SATSO elections and has issued its decision.

The Provincial Election Board ruled to annul the election for the SATSO Chairmanship of the Board of Directors, held on October 24. The decision concerning the election, in which incumbent Chairman Akgün Altuğ received 45 votes and Yılmaz Dünya received 43, was reportedly based on violations of election regulations.

Following the elections at SATSO, Murat Ekşi filed an objection with the Arifiye District Election Board through his lawyer, requesting that the election be annulled. The objection cited six grounds, including envelopes being left unsealed, markings on ballot papers other than the official printing, psychological pressure on voters, and allegations concerning two individuals who had served prison sentences of more than five years.

The Arifiye District Election Board rejected the objections, stating that there was no evidence to demonstrate improper markings on the ballot papers. It also noted that election boards were not responsible for assessing candidates’ eligibility, indicating that SATSO or its higher-level umbrella organization, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), was authorized to address such matters. Ekşi’s lawyer subsequently appealed the decision to the Provincial Election Board.

After reviewing the objection submitted by Murat Ekşi’s lawyer, the Provincial Election Board ruled to annul the election.
