High-yield plants

During the visit, SATSO Inc. Chairman of the Board Cem Gün stated that the Tissue Culture Laboratory, which has been operating for more than four years, was implemented in partnership with the Metropolitan Municipality to support local producers. He emphasized that, at the production center in Sapanca, the bases of more than 20 ornamental plants, as well as fruit and agricultural products, are being produced and made ready to meet the needs of local and national producers.

Cem Gün said:

“The in-vitro plantlets produced here will be acclimatized in greenhouses and prepared for the market. In this way, plants that are both disease-free and have high yield potential will be introduced to both local and national markets in the coming period. The products obtained here will be put on the market in a short time, contributing to the benefit of our local producers as well.”

Sakarya’s agricultural production power

Sakarya Metropolitan Mayor Yusuf Alemdar stated that the Tissue Culture Laboratory would make a major contribution to the city, the sector, and agricultural production, saying:

“The Plant Tissue Culture Research and Production Laboratory, which we have implemented in cooperation with SATSO, is a very special initiative in its field. Here, the types of plants that producers can cultivate are determined through research, rooted in a laboratory environment, and grown in greenhouses. We attach great importance to this cooperation, which will contribute to the national economy. This step will not only strengthen Sakarya’s agricultural production power but also support sustainable environmental goals, afforestation, and landscaping efforts.”

SATSO Chairman of the Board A. Akgün Altuğ also emphasized that the Tissue Culture Laboratory is an important investment that creates added value in Sakarya’s agriculture and ornamental plant production. He noted that, with its capacity, the laboratory is a large-scale facility that sets an example for Turkey, adding that while some of the products are directed toward export, others are produced for local farmers.
