Sakarya’s Drinking Water Infrastructure Strengthened with 47 New Reservoirs
The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) is commissioning 47 new water reservoirs to strengthen the drinking water infrastructure in 11 districts of Sakarya. The reservoirs, whose manufacturing has been completed, are being installed at 47 different locations across the 11 districts. Implemented with a total investment of TL 45 million, the reservoirs will be placed at various points to help prevent potential water outages and ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water to subscribers.
The reservoirs are manufactured with millimetric precision in enclosed factory environments unaffected by outdoor weather conditions. Once transported to the construction sites, they can be installed within hours with the help of cranes.
As part of the project, a total water storage capacity of 1,675 cubic meters will be added to the system. The high insulation properties of the precast structures will help preserve water quality and maintain the ideal temperature, ensuring that water reaches subscribers’ taps in the healthiest possible condition.
The distribution of the 47 water reservoirs among the districts was determined based on analyses. Twelve reservoirs will be installed in Geyve, eight in Akyazı, seven in Pamukova, six in Kocaali, three in Hendek and four in Karasu. Two reservoirs each will be installed in Adapazarı and Söğütlü, while Ferizli, Sapanca and Kaynarca will each receive one reservoir.
Providing information about the investment aimed at ensuring an uninterrupted drinking water supply, SASKİ General Manager Seyit Sakallıoğlu said the first step of the work, which will proceed in phases, was taken in Akyazı.
Sakallıoğlu stated that installation of the reservoirs at the designated locations in Akyazı has begun and that work in the other districts will continue according to the planned schedule.
