The Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) and the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) signed a Sister Chamber Cooperation Protocol aimed at increasing the economic potential of the two cities, developing joint projects, and supporting mutual improvement in chamber services.
The signing ceremony was hosted in Trabzon by TTSO Chairman Erkut Çelebi and attended by SATSO Chairman of the Board A. Akgün Altuğ, SATSO Assembly President Erdem Ercan, SATSO Secretary General Şevket Kırıcı, and SATSO Press, Publications and Public Relations Director Derya Çakır.
Trabzon Commodity Exchange President Eyyüp Ergan, TTSO Assembly Vice Presidents Hülya Ulusoy and Selçuk İskender, Board Member Sayım Adanur, and Assembly Member Ahmet Akyüz also participated in the ceremony.
The protocol, prepared to strengthen communication between the two chambers, improve mutual service standards, coordinate activities, and contribute to business communities and local economies, became official with the signatures of the two presidents.
Within the scope of the protocol, both chambers will share information on improving the economic and investment environment at global, national, and regional levels, as well as on quality management and accreditation processes. They will exchange knowledge and experience in member-oriented projects, increase cooperation in international and national events, and carry out joint initiatives not only for the development of industry and trade but also in socio-cultural activities.

Agriculture and Livestock
SATSO Chairman A. Akgün Altuğ emphasized that the protocol will pave the way for significant collaborations, stating:
“Production is our only way forward as a country. As a chamber, we have always prioritized production. Human resources, technology, and digitalization are all parameters of the production ecosystem. By developing all these parameters, we aim to strengthen the production ecosystem. In addition to industrial production, we also focus heavily on agricultural production. Agriculture and livestock are extremely important for our country. Each chamber and exchange tries to create value in their cities and regions through various projects, contributing to production and many other areas. As SATSO, we strive to increase industrial production. Under the auspices of our chamber, the country’s largest tissue culture laboratory was established. Here, we produce various agricultural in-vitro saplings, including ornamental plants such as orchids, and export them worldwide. Trabzon and Sakarya are two of Turkey’s important cities in terms of production culture, entrepreneurial dynamism, and commercial competence. This protocol will strengthen experience and knowledge sharing between the two established chambers, foster new collaborations, and create more opportunities for our members. I hope this important step we are taking today adds value to both cities.”
Serious Studies on Hazelnuts and Tea
TTSO Chairman Erkut Çelebi highlighted the long-term impact of the cooperation, stating:
“We see that developed countries around the world invest heavily in agriculture. Countries such as Germany and the United States have advanced significantly in modern agriculture. As a chamber, we are working to ensure that agricultural production in Trabzon progresses through the integration of technology. We are conducting serious studies particularly on hazelnuts and tea. We are the homeland of hazelnuts, yet we import hazelnut flavoring. There are tissue culture laboratory initiatives similar to those in Sakarya. In Trabzon, crops such as aronia, blueberries, and fragrant grapes are cultivated. We support the work being done to increase the production of these crops in our region. I believe we will achieve important collaborations with Sakarya, which is highly advanced in both agriculture and industry. Sakarya is a model city for us in these areas. Especially with the tissue culture laboratory established under SATSO’s leadership, we can implement an effective cooperation model. This protocol will strengthen lasting dialogue between the two cities and chambers and contribute to forming a joint working platform. With joint events and projects aimed at strengthening economic relations with SATSO, we are launching a comprehensive cooperation that will open new doors for the business communities of both cities. A new economic corridor is being formed between Trabzon and Sakarya.”

SATSO Assembly President Erdem Ercan added:
“Every city and every chamber’s efforts to revitalize their local economy contribute to our country. The cooperation established today between SATSO and TTSO will contribute to both regional and national economies. Many people from Trabzon and the Black Sea region live in our city, contributing to social life, production, and services in every sense. For this reason, this protocol is also valuable to us. I believe it will lead to productive initiatives and strong cooperation.”
