A protocol aimed at enhancing academic cooperation has been signed between Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBU) and Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences (AFSU). Signed by SUBU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık and AFSU Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Aslan, the protocol initiates a cooperation process based on the joint use of knowledge, experience, and research infrastructures of the two universities.

Within the scope of the protocol, it is planned to carry out joint scientific projects by utilizing the academic staff and laboratory facilities of both universities. These projects are expected to be supported through a co-financing model via the Scientific Research Projects (BAP) units of the universities, and various types of research activities—particularly guided projects—are planned to be implemented. The protocol also includes procedures and principles regarding the use of institutional infrastructure facilities.

In line with the cooperation, it is planned to conduct joint master’s and doctoral theses, make mutual teaching assignments for academic staff, appoint members reciprocally to the advisory boards of research centers, and enable the continuation of activities related to biomedical research centers at AFSU. Through these practices, it is aimed to sustain academic cooperation within an institutional framework.

Making a statement regarding the signing protocol, SUBU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık said:

“We attach importance to bringing together our application-oriented education and research approach with AFSU’s academic expertise in the field of health on a common ground. Universities have major responsibilities in maintaining our country’s strong development momentum. In this sense, we believe in the power of acting together and pioneering innovations.”

AFSU Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Aslan also stated:

“With this protocol, it is aimed to achieve high value-added outputs by combining the knowledge base, research experience, and technical infrastructure of SUBU and AFSU. Such collaborations create new opportunities for conducting joint projects through the shared use of universities’ academic knowledge, research infrastructure, and laboratory facilities. I believe that this protocol will generate significant synergy for both our university and SUBU.”
