Sakarya University Ranked First in Türkiye for Environmental Sustainability

The results of the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Sustainability Rankings 2026, published annually, have been announced.
Sakarya University rose to 1st place among public universities in Türkiye in the QS Sustainability 2026 rankings with its strong performance in environmental sustainability.
According to the ranking, which includes a total of 1,994 universities worldwide, Sakarya University ranked 715th globally. Among the 53 universities from Türkiye included in the rankings, it achieved an important distinction by placing 13th.

Climate-Friendly Campus
Sakarya University ranked 201st in the world in the Environmental Sustainability performance evaluation. The university earned international recognition through its environmental management practices, zero-waste programs, energy efficiency initiatives, and climate-friendly campus applications. Thanks to its strong performance in this field, Sakarya University took 1st place among public universities in Türkiye.
Additionally, the university ranked 396th globally in the Knowledge Exchange category, standing out for its university–community collaborations, technology transfer activities, sectoral partnerships, and sustainability projects carried out with local governments.
Governance and Environmental Impact
In the Governance category, Sakarya University ranked 616th globally, standing out with its institutional structure that reinforces transparency, accountability, ethical management principles, and democratic representation mechanisms.
In the Environmental Impact category, the university ranked 644th worldwide, strengthening its sustainable campus vision through ecosystem protection policies, green space management, waste management practices, and environmental improvement efforts.

Despite the increased number of universities included in this year’s ranking, Sakarya University continued its upward trend in sustainability, securing a strong position both nationally and internationally.
