The project titled “Resilience Empowerment for Adaptation Capacity of Teachers in Post-Disaster Sustainability of Education – REACT Academy,” prepared under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Bayrakcı, a faculty member at Sakarya University Faculty of Education, has been awarded a grant of 1.5 million Euros.
With this success, Sakarya University has become one of only three universities in Türkiye to receive support for a Teacher Academy project. Teacher Academies, carried out within the scope of Erasmus+, are among the highest-budget education projects awarded to a limited number of universities across Europe.

This year, only 17 projects were deemed worthy of support out of 145 applications.
REACT Academy secured its place among these distinguished projects.
The project will be carried out through the cooperation of universities and institutions from Türkiye, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, and Greece.
Over the course of three years, numerous activities will be implemented, ranging from seminars and workshops to summer schools and conferences.
Sustainability in Post-Disaster Education
The focus of REACT Academy is to ensure sustainability in education after disasters.
Within the scope of the project, teachers will be provided with skills in crisis management, psychological resilience, the use of digital content and materials, as well as communication and collaboration competencies.
Thanks to these efforts, not only teachers but also students, families, NGOs, and public institutions will directly benefit from the project.
Speaking about the preparation process of the “REACT Academy” Project, Prof. Dr. Bayrakcı emphasized that they worked with a team of academically competent experts in both project writing techniques and international cooperation to design and structure such a significant project.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Bayrakcı also noted that the team had previously received support for the Jean Monnet Module and Jean Monnet Teacher Training projects.
With the REACT Academy, Sakarya University is becoming a central hub for teacher networks and collaborations across Europe.
This achievement will make a strong contribution to both the professional development of teachers and Türkiye’s international visibility in education.
