During his visit to Kağan Şan, Regional Director of the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) 3rd Regional Directorate, Sakallıoğlu noted that in 2026 they will introduce investments that will shape Sakarya’s water future to the city. He also announced that field works for the transmission lines of the Ballıkaya Dam will begin in the near future, adding that infrastructure investments will reduce water losses and leakages to minimum levels.

Water Management

Providing information on the construction process of the Çamdağı Dam, the Ballıkaya Dam transmission line, the Sapanca Lake Action Plan, water management, and strong infrastructure investments, Seyit Sakallıoğlu said:

“We shared with DSİ 3rd Regional Director Kağan Şan the projects we have planned to establish a strong infrastructure system in every neighborhood of Sakarya and to ensure the sustainability of our water resources. Through our collaborative efforts, we will rapidly bring the Ballıkaya and Çamdağı Dams to our city. In addition to alternative projects, we also evaluated our water policies that will protect Sapanca Lake against the threat of drought. The losses we will prevent through effective water management and the strong transformation projects in infrastructure will carry Sapanca Lake safely into the future.”

SASKİ Investments

The Ballıkaya Dam, which will meet a large portion of the city’s drinking water needs, will provide 109.75 million cubic meters of water annually. In addition to the initial 45-kilometer steel transmission line, 90 engineering structures and a 22,500-cubic-meter reservoir will deliver uninterrupted drinking water to Sakarya.

The Çamdağı Dam, for which drilling works have been completed, will primarily serve the northern parts of the city. The dam, which will meet increased water demand especially during the summer months without interruption, is planned to be put out to tender in 2026.

With the planned investments aimed at reducing water losses, the city’s water loss rate will be minimized. Under the project to be implemented alongside a strong infrastructure transformation, interventions will also be carried out in areas experiencing pressure problems.
