Evaluating the November export figures announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Akgün Altuğ stated that despite numerous challenges—geopolitical tensions and intense global competition—Türkiye has continued its growth streak for 21 consecutive quarters. However, he stressed that they have always emphasized the necessity of production and exports for sustainable growth, noting that the current growth is driven mainly by consumption.

Akgün Altuğ made the following statement:

“Exports must play a more effective role in growth, and in order for that to happen, we must regain our lost competitiveness. Since the pandemic, global trade has been tightening, and markets are shrinking. In addition to the tension between the United States and China, countries keep introducing new customs duties. We must always remain a self-sufficient nation. While meeting our own needs, importing raw materials for production results in a significant current account deficit for us.”
