Sakarya Advances Rapidly in E-Commerce

One of Türkiye’s leading manufacturing and industrial hubs, Sakarya is also strengthening its position in e-commerce. According to data from Trendyol, sellers based in Sakarya fulfill 55.6% of all baby biscuit orders across Türkiye. Standing out with its strong performance in the mother-and-baby category, the city is using e-commerce to deliver locally manufactured products to customers nationwide.
Sakarya has become one of Türkiye’s prominent e-commerce centers, particularly in the mother-and-baby, education, and home & living categories. The latest data from Trendyol highlights the city’s growing influence in the country’s digital commerce ecosystem.
One Out of Every Two Baby Biscuits Sold in Türkiye Comes from Sakarya
Sakarya has established itself as one of Türkiye’s leading centers for the production and sale of mother-and-baby products. According to Trendyol data, 55.6% of all baby biscuit orders placed across the country are supplied by sellers from Sakarya. The city also accounts for 36.3% of spoon-fed baby food, 33.6% of baby soup, and 24.1% of complementary baby food orders nationwide.
The city’s success is not limited to the mother-and-baby segment. Sakarya also performs strongly in the home and living category, where local sellers account for 27.6% of interior wall paint sales across Türkiye, demonstrating the city’s ability to successfully transfer its manufacturing strength into digital commerce.
Among the most popular products offered by Sakarya-based sellers are educational and supplementary books, baby nutrition products, home decoration items, and gardening products. An analysis of the top 100 best-selling products indicates that Sakarya is not specialized in only a few categories but has developed a diverse manufacturing and commercial ecosystem capable of meeting a wide range of everyday consumer needs.

Digital Commerce Strengthens Sakarya’s Competitiveness
A. Akgün Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO), stated that digital commerce has evolved beyond being merely a sales channel and has become one of the most important gateways to global markets for businesses.
Altuğ said:

The figures we see today clearly demonstrate that our manufacturers have also achieved significant success in adapting to digital commerce. It is highly valuable for Sakarya’s economy that value-added products manufactured in our city reach millions of consumers through digital platforms.
Through training programs, information seminars, strategic collaborations, and new projects, we aim to strengthen the presence of our companies in digital markets. Our goal is to make Sakarya one of Türkiye’s leading cities in e-exporting. We will continue supporting our SMEs in expanding into cross-border e-commerce, building internationally recognized brands, and delivering high value-added products to markets around the world."
Through Trendyol, sellers from Sakarya deliver products across Türkiye. Following Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, the highest sales volumes are recorded in Bursa, Antalya, Kocaeli, Adana, Mersin, Konya, Muğla, Tekirdağ, Gaziantep, and Balıkesir.
