Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar shared the services and projects implemented over the two-year period since he took office on March 31 at a public presentation meeting.
Stating, “We have launched the largest investment period in Sakarya’s history over the past two years,” Alemdar emphasized that they will continue to implement projects that will shape the city’s future.

Providing information about projects such as ADARAY’s expansion to new districts, urban and industrial transformation, the Sakarya Fair and Concert Center, the preservation of Lake Sapanca, two separate dams, and junction projects including Yazlık, Tunatan, Mithatpaşa, and SEDAŞ, Alemdar also announced the Darülaceze Campus project, which will positively impact the lives of thousands of elderly citizens.
Alemdar said, “We say ‘we’ instead of ‘I’ for a Sakarya that lives together with hope, trust, without discrimination or exclusion. We set out for 1 million 180 thousand citizens. This city does not belong to any particular group—it belongs to everyone who works for our future. We will continue to dream for every square meter of this city and work diligently to build the Sakarya of tomorrow.”

It was attended by Sakarya Governor Rahmi Doğan, AK Party Deputy Chairman Ali İhsan Yavuz, AK Party Sakarya MPs Lütfi Bayraktar, Murat Kaya, Ali İnci, Ertuğrul Kocacık, MHP MP Muhammed Levent Bülbül, AK Party MKYK Member Abdurrahman Akyüz, AK Party Provincial Chairman Yunus Tever, MHP Provincial Chairman Oğuz Alkaş, Sakarya University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamza Al, Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık, Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Akgün Altuğ, Sakarya Commodity Exchange Chairman Mustafa Genç, along with provincial directors, district governors, mayors, political party representatives, media members, NGO representatives, muhtars, and citizens.

He also announced that a 43,000-square-meter Darülaceze Campus will be built to serve as a home for elderly individuals in need of care.

Sakarya Fair, Congress and Concert Center
Alemdar also stated that they will bring a Sakarya Fair, Congress, and Concert Center to the city—one of its major needs—highlighting that Sakarya ranks 7th in exports nationwide. A 659-decare area will be allocated for this project.
Providing updates on other projects, Alemdar continued:
“Work has resumed on Sapanca Square and the underground parking project. Construction in Pamukova Square will begin shortly. We are creating green spaces in every district. The tender for the Karapürçek recreation area has been completed, and we will soon start the project. To protect Lake Sapanca, we will soon transfer water from Ballıkaya Dam to the Hızırilyas Water Distribution Center. Ground surveys for Çamdağı Dam have been completed, and the project—worth 3.5 billion TL—is now on the ministry’s agenda. With this dam, we will secure drinking water for our northern districts.

We have launched the Sapanca Park project to open the lake surroundings to public use, and work on the 8-kilometer lakeside route is nearing completion. With the first phase of the Tığcılar Urban Transformation Project, we will create a green, social, and safe living area. We have achieved 80% agreement, and the transformation will continue rapidly with the second and third phases. We have completed our industrial transformation project, which includes 2,500 workplaces, to support both our tradespeople and the city. We will continue consultations to build a more livable and resilient Sakarya. We have strengthened our transportation fleet by adding 34 new vehicles. We launched the Metrobus system within six months, covering a 19.5-kilometer route. We will integrate ADARAY with Pamukova, Karasu, Sapanca, and the newly announced Hendek railway lines. With the Karasu Coastal Park Project, we contributed to tourism in Karasu. We have established an education and drill center for our earthquake-prone region. A 530-vehicle capacity parking facility has solved parking issues in the hospital area. We supported 2,000 farmers by analyzing soil samples. We addressed the brown marmorated stink bug problem through the TUTSAK project in cooperation with the university. On April 24, we will hold the construction tender for the Adapazarı–Serdivan Tram Line. The construction of a 7,500-square-meter Science Center and a city library with a capacity of 1 million books is nearing completion. We will bring a new museum to the city. With the new municipal building, we will provide better services in a 30,000-square-meter area. We are reintroducing the AFA Cultural Center to the city in cooperation with TOKİ.”
