Letter of Intent Signed for Model Factory Project to be Established in Sakarya

A letter of intent has been signed for the Model Factory project to be established within the Production and Digital Transformation Center of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO).
Representatives from public institutions, industry organizations, technology centers, and organized industrial zones came together to sign the declaration of intent and receive comprehensive presentations about the project. The Model Factory, which will be implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, will operate within SATSO’s Production and Digital Transformation Center.

The meeting, hosted by SATSO Chairman A. Akgün Altuğ, was attended by Rahmi Doğan, Mehmet Sarıbıyık, Karasu District Governor Mehmet Uğur Arslan, Sakarya 1st Organized Industrial Zone Chairman Bülent Yazıcı, Sakarya 3rd Organized Industrial Zone Chairman Mesut Bekler, Kaynarca Furniture Specialized Organized Industrial Zone Chairman Güray Çalışkan, Söğütlü Organized Industrial Zone Chairman Gökhan Tiryaki, DOMİOSB Vice Chairman Turgay Çelik, Sakarya 2nd Organized Industrial Zone Vice Chairman Hüseyin Hekim, Ferizli Organized Industrial Zone Vice Chairman Ümit Kaplan, Sakarya Technopark General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yakup Köseoğlu, and Nehir Technopark General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış Boru.
With the signatures of all participants, the project was officially endorsed, and the stakeholders agreed to cooperate throughout both the establishment and operational phases of the center.

Speaking at the program, Governor Rahmi Doğan emphasized that the project is a strategic investment that will strengthen Sakarya’s manufacturing infrastructure. He noted that the Model Factory concept has already been successfully implemented in several leading industrial cities across Türkiye. Governor Doğan also highlighted the strong culture of inter-institutional cooperation in Sakarya and stated that the center would provide valuable services through a shared vision and collaborative approach.

SATSO Chairman Akgün Altuğ underlined that competition in manufacturing is no longer measured solely by cost, stressing that the center will help companies in Sakarya improve in efficiency, technology, and transformation. Altuğ stated that their aim is to establish a model center that will enhance the productivity, competitiveness, and capabilities of member companies by taking inspiration from successful model factory practices across Türkiye. He added that the project would be planned in line with the needs of Sakarya’s business community.
During the meeting, SATSO Secretary General Şevket Kırıcı delivered a detailed presentation on the project’s scope, objectives, and strategic contributions to Sakarya. The presentation highlighted the expected impact of initiatives such as the SATSO IN-FAB Model Factory, the SATSO MetalEX Welding Excellence Center, and the SATSO e-ComEX digital trade ecosystem on the city’s industrial development, entrepreneurship ecosystem, skilled workforce, and digital transformation capacity.
With the signing of the declaration, stakeholders committed to working collaboratively during both the implementation and operational stages of the center. The project aims to position Sakarya as a comprehensive production and digital transformation hub that can serve as a model for Türkiye.
