A cooperation protocol on “Vocational and Technical Education,” based on the continuity of vocational and technical education, was signed between the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) and Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ). The cooperation aims to ensure that the practical experiences gained by vocational high school students are transferred into university education and to encourage the transition process into higher education. With the protocol, students graduating from vocational high schools will gain a half-semester education advantage if they choose to attend vocational schools of higher education.

Within the framework of SUBÜ’s +1 Education Model and the Regulation on the Recognition of Prior Learning, the knowledge and skills acquired in vocational high schools will be transformed into a sustainable line of professional development at the university level. This protocol establishes the framework of cooperation between vocational and technical education schools and vocational schools of higher education, focusing on the continuity, alignment, and development of vocational and technical education between SUBÜ and SATSO.

We Will Continue to Produce Integrated Solutions

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol, SATSO Chairman of the Board A. Akgün Altuğ stated:

“One of the most important expectations of the business world is qualified human resources. With the protocol we signed with our Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, it is a great achievement that our vocational high school graduates will be able to join the workforce more quickly by saving a half-semester in their transition to university. As SATSO, we will continue to produce integrated solutions in every stage of vocational education in collaboration with the business world.”

+1 Education Model

SUBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık said:

“The +1 Education Model, which is one of the most important parts of our practice-oriented university concept, is becoming stronger with this cooperation. By recognizing the skills acquired in vocational high schools, the adaptation of our students to university will be facilitated, and their education processes will accelerate. We will provide our students with the opportunity to join the business world in a more equipped manner and in a shorter time. As a university, we strive to ensure that our vocational school graduates can become part of qualified employment by joining the business world. We are the only university in Turkey that has a Vocational and Technical Education Application and Research Center. We are conducting detailed studies for this.”
