A city library is being established in Sakarya

Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar, announced that a significant milestone has been reached in the City Library project, which has been included in the investment program of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Mayor Alemdar stated that the project will be swiftly implemented to meet a major need and that the library, which will be built on an area of 7,000 square meters, will serve the cultural and artistic needs of Sakarya.He explained that the construction of the project will soon go out to tender and has been added to the investment program of the Presidential Strategy and Budget Directorate, sharing the following information: “As part of efforts to bring a new City Library to Sakarya, a 7,000-square-meter plot owned by the Metropolitan Municipality in the Donatım area was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the project. For our library project, which was one of our initial goals and a critical need for the city, the Ministry will launch the construction tender in the second half of 2025. Under this roof, the children of this city—the successful names of the future—will be nurtured, and our center will provide a valuable platform for institutions and educational hubs, offering a strong presence both in Turkey and globally. The library, which will include a conference hall and many innovative spaces, will become the heart of culture and art in Sakarya.”
The City Library will shine a light on Sakarya’s cultural and artistic future with its conference hall, theater, reading and research rooms, children’s library, special classrooms and study rooms, reading areas for individuals with disabilities, and computer-equipped study rooms.Designed to engage children and filled with children's books, the library will also feature special classrooms, dedicated study rooms, sections specially prepared for individuals with disabilities, areas with computer access, and hundreds of thousands of books.
