As part of its efforts carried out with a strong focus on preventing water losses, SASKİ prevented waste equivalent to the annual consumption of 150,000 subscribers in one year. Within the scope of comprehensive infrastructure transformation works, the amount of water saved through loss prevention increased by more than 100 percent, reaching a total of 11.5 million cubic meters.

By prioritizing acoustic listening, the SCADA system, and robust infrastructure transformation projects, the institution increased the volume of water saved through loss prevention from 5 million cubic meters to 11.5 million cubic meters within a year.

In addition to loss prevention efforts, no tolerance was shown toward illegal and unauthorized use of Sakarya’s water resources. During inspections carried out over the year, 26,300 subscribers were checked and legal action was initiated against 8,200 individuals. Through illegal usage control activities, the consumption of 950,000 cubic meters of water was prevented.

Stating that the most effective method of preventing water losses is a strong transformation of infrastructure, SASKİ General Manager Seyit Sakallıoğlu shared the following remarks regarding the work carried out:

“With every step we take for our city’s infrastructure, we are reducing our water loss rate to even lower levels. The increase in savings achieved within a year is the direct result of the projects implemented in our infrastructure. We are planning not only for today’s needs but also for the future water requirements. In addition to our ongoing efforts, we will intervene in 108 kilometers of drinking water infrastructure in the districts of Hendek, Akyazı, and Sapanca within the year. Moreover, within the scope of an investment with a total cost of 175 million Turkish lira, 11 kilometers of drinking water lines in Erenler, 5 kilometers in Arifiye, and 10 kilometers in Serdivan will be renewed, while 25 kilometers of network lines will be rehabilitated in the Adapazarı district. Thus, in 2026, our water loss rate will drop to historically low levels.”
