Mesut Nurdoğan, Member of the Board of Directors at Federal Elektrik, stated that in Türkiye’s electrical distribution and control equipment sector, domestic production is no longer a preference but has become a strategic necessity. Emphasizing that the energy sector is one of a country’s most critical infrastructures, Nurdoğan underlined that this structure can only be safeguarded through strong and uninterrupted domestic supply.

Saying, “We are determined to support Türkiye’s energy efficiency and security both today and in the future,” Nurdoğan noted that Federal Elektrik manufactures switchgear products used in residential buildings, industrial facilities, and major public investments with domestic engineering capabilities. He added that thanks to their accredited type test laboratory and approved R&D center, they develop products that exceed European standards, positioning Federal in the same league as the world’s leading manufacturers.

Nurdoğan stressed that domestic companies with stock capacity and rapid production capabilities play a vital role in the event of failures and extraordinary situations in electricity distribution infrastructures, stating:

“Supply chains that rely on foreign sources do not function during times of crisis. What Türkiye needs are strong domestic manufacturers that can step in under any circumstances. Transmitting electricity is just as important as generating it. Supporting domestic production in public procurement must now become a clear policy.”

Pointing out the importance of making this effectively mandatory in critical infrastructures, Nurdoğan said that energy security can only be ensured in scenarios where dependence on foreign sources is minimized.

Referring to an international example, Nurdoğan added:

“A few years ago, Saudi Arabia launched a policy prioritizing domestic production under the name ‘Localization’ and achieved successful results in a short time. A similar approach needs to be implemented in Türkiye with determination. In public projects, domestic production should not be the exception, but the main rule.”
