Sakarya University Establishes African Studies Research Center

A new African Studies Application and Research Center has been established within Sakarya University.

The center aims to contribute to the development of African studies in Türkiye, promote scientific research in the field, and strengthen both national and international academic collaborations.

Speaking about the initiative, Hamza Al, Rector of Sakarya University, stated that the university seeks to bring together Türkiye’s strategic needs and its academic potential.

African Studies Application and Research Center

Emphasizing the importance of providing a strong academic foundation for Türkiye’s strategic relations with the African continent based on mutual respect and brotherhood, Prof. Dr. Hamza Al said:

“Our primary objective is to generate strategic knowledge and provide scientific support for our country's Africa outreach policy and public diplomacy efforts. The African Studies Application and Research Center will support scientific research on Africa, strengthen national and international collaborations, and contribute to the production of original knowledge in this field. Within the framework of the center, academic publications and research projects related to African studies will be carried out. National and international seminars, conferences, congresses, and symposiums will also be organized. In addition, a specialized library dedicated to African studies will be established, and joint research projects will be conducted in cooperation with relevant institutions.”

The newly established center is expected to enhance academic engagement with Africa while contributing to the development of scholarly expertise, research capacity, and international cooperation in African studies.
