Sakarya increased its exports in 14 key sectors

In March 2025, Sakarya achieved exports worth $398 million, marking a 1.4% increase compared to the same month of the previous year and a 10% rise compared to February.The cumulative exports for the first quarter of the year exceeded $1.2 billion.In March, the top five sectors contributing to Sakarya’s exports were the automotive industry, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, chemicals and chemical products, steel, and machinery and equipment.
Providing details on foreign trade data, A. Akgün Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that Sakarya succeeded in increasing its exports in 14 main sectors compared to the previous year. He particularly highlighted significant growth in the sectors of leather and leather products, textiles and raw materials, aquaculture and animal products, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Altuğ emphasized that in March, the Sakarya business community exported to 111 destinations around the world, including free zones. He shared the following details:“Poland, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Iraq were our top five export destinations. We achieved notable export growth not only in our long-standing trade partners from the European Union but also across a wide range of countries, especially in the Middle East and the Balkans. We recorded a 100% increase in exports to 25 countries and over a 50% increase to 9 countries. The total number of countries where we increased our exports reached 49.
I would like to thank all the companies producing for the world and competing for our country, along with their dedicated employees. When we look at the foreign trade data for February, the export-to-import coverage ratio of our province was 30%, and in the first two months, we recorded a foreign trade surplus of $200 million.”
