Sakarya Achieves $699 Million in Exports in October

With exports worth $699 million in October, Sakarya increased its export performance in 15 sectors compared to the same month last year.

The city’s total exports for the first 10 months of the year approached $4.8 billion, maintaining its 7th place among Turkey’s top exporting provinces.

In October, the automotive industry, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, machinery and parts, steel, and chemicals and chemical products ranked as the top five export sectors of Sakarya.

Sakarya recorded export growth in 15 different sectors compared to the previous year, with particularly high increases observed in jewelry, tobacco, leather and leather products, and ornamental plants and products.

During October, exports from Sakarya—including those to free zones—reached 114 countries worldwide. The top five export destinations were Poland, France, Germany, Spain and Romania.

Sakarya’s 9-Month Foreign Trade Surplus Reaches $1.149 Billion

 

According to September foreign trade data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Sakarya continues to post a foreign trade surplus. In September, the city’s export-to-import coverage ratio stood at 154%, while the foreign trade surplus in the first nine months of the year reached $1.149 billion.

Akgün Altuğ, Chairman of the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that the upward trend in exports continued in October:

“For two consecutive months, we have been breaking monthly export records. Despite challenging conditions, our exporters continue their efforts. The steady increase in our city’s exports has made us proud.”
