Road Tests Begin for Türkiye’s First National Electric High-Speed Train Produced in Sakarya

Road tests have begun for Türkiye’s first national electric high-speed train capable of reaching 225 kilometers per hour, produced in Sakarya. The launch ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, Sakarya Governor Rahmi Doğan, AK Party Sakarya MPs Çiğdem Erdoğan, Ali İnci, Ertuğrul Kocacık and Murat Kaya, MHP Sakarya MP Muhammed Levent Bülbül, TÜRASAŞ Chairman of the Board and General Manager Selim Koçbay, AK Party Deputy Chairman Ali İhsan Yavuz, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yusuf Alemdar, Chief Public Prosecutor Hasan Uğurlu, district mayors, factory executives and workers.
Türkiye becomes the world’s 8th high-speed train operatör
Speaking at the “National Electric High-Speed Train Set Road Test Launch Ceremony” held in front of the TÜRASAŞ (Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Inc.) Sakarya Regional Directorate, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that TÜRASAŞ is the largest rail system vehicle manufacturer in the region and provided the following information:
“Türkiye has become the 6th high-speed train operator in Europe and the 8th in the world. We also plan to turn TÜRASAŞ into a regional hub for hydrogen technology. Construction of the National Electric High-Speed Train Production Factory at the TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate is progressing rapidly. We aim to complete the factory in the near future. Construction of this modern facility, which will cover approximately 18,000 square meters, is ongoing. Once the factory construction is completed, it will provide new employment for approximately 250 people with an annual production and testing capacity of 12 high-speed train sets. TÜRASAŞ will also expand into global markets.”
