Livestock and Red Meat Sector Meeting to Be Held in Sakarya

The first of the sectoral information meetings initiated under the leadership of the Sakarya Commodity Exchange will be held on Thursday, February 12. Ahead of Ramadan, stakeholders of the red meat and livestock sector will come together at the meeting, where the sector will be discussed in detail.
Aiming to pave the way for the branding efforts of Turkey’s food and agriculture sectors, the Sakarya Commodity Exchange is launching a series of meetings that will enable different players in the food sector to share their sectoral knowledge with the press and the public. Supported by the Reliable Products Platform, these meetings will address a different sectoral topic each month. The first meeting, to be held at the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Social Development Center Conference Hall, will focus on red meat, one of the most widely discussed topics ahead of Ramadan. Titled “The Past, Present and Future of the Livestock and Red Meat Sector,” the meeting will bring together experts in the field to share the latest developments.

Speaking about the event, Sakarya Commodity Exchange Chairman of the Board Mustafa Genç stated:
“At this meeting, where we will come together with sector stakeholders, we will evaluate the livestock and red meat sector from all aspects. Especially ahead of Ramadan, when the red meat sector is widely debated in public, it is of great importance to address the issue with a level-headed, data-driven and multi-stakeholder approach.”
The opening speeches will be delivered by Sakarya Commodity Exchange Chairman Mustafa Genç and Reliable Products Platform Chairman Celal Toprak. Speakers at the meeting will include Salih Çelik, Director General of Livestock at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry; Asım Baş, Director of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry of Sakarya; Rahmi Kartal, Chairman of the Board of İstanbul PERDER (Association of Food and Necessities Retailers); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Ayvazoğlu, faculty member at Ardahan University; Gökhan Alan, Marmara Region Marketing Manager of Migros A.Ş.; Gazi Kutlu, columnist for Tarım Gazetesi; and gastronomy expert Biral Serttaş.

The event, where topics such as sectoral developments, production, exports, imports, product safety and legal regulations will be discussed, will take place at 2:00 PM at the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Social Development Center Conference Hall and will be open to the public.
