The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has launched full-scale electricity production at the Metropolitan Bus Terminal Solar Power Plant (SPP), a project implemented in the field of renewable energy.
The solar power plant, which was installed on the roof of Sakarya’s intercity bus terminal, has published its first 20-day report. In just 20 days, the facility produced 85 MWh of electricity with 1,428 panels, preventing 40 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, saving coal equivalent to 34 tons, and contributing oxygen to nature equal to that produced by 56 trees.

Funded entirely by the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality’s own resources, the project currently generates 4.5 MWh (megawatt-hours) of electricity daily.
The project aims to achieve annual savings of approximately 4.5 million Turkish Lira in electricity costs and produce around 983,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity per year.
Designed as a model project for Turkey, the system was built with a capacity not only to meet the annual electricity needs of the bus terminal but also to generate a surplus.
