76 Lifeguards to Serve Along Sakarya’s Black Sea Coastline

The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has completed preparations for the new summer season along the province’s northern coastline.

Teams responsible for ensuring the safety of millions of holidaymakers along the 54-kilometer coastal stretch in Karasu, Kocaali, and Kaynarca will officially begin their duties on June 6.

A total of 76 lifeguards have been selected for the 2026 summer season, and all coastal training programs have been completed. Duty assignments have been finalized for three main beaches as well as the Kocaali Women’s Beach.

The installation of 48 lifeguard towers has also been completed. To further enhance beach safety, additional mobile observation towers without numbering have been positioned between the permanent towers.

Extensive Safety Measures

According to the operational plan:

  • In Kaynarca, 3 lifeguards will serve from 3 lifeguard towers.

  • Along Karasu’s beaches, 45 lifeguards will operate from 30 towers, supported by 4 jet skis, 4 off-road vehicles, and 1 ATV.

  • In Kocaali, 23 lifeguards will be stationed at 15 towers, with 3 jet skis, 1 tractor, and 1 ATV available for emergency response.

“Zero Loss” Target

In a statement, the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department emphasized that a comprehensive preparation process had been completed for the Black Sea coast.

The department noted that a robust safety infrastructure has been established under the slogan “Zero Loss”, aiming to provide a safe holiday environment for the millions of visitors expected to visit Sakarya’s beaches throughout the summer season.
