22,000 Students Use Public Transportation Daily in Sakarya

With the Metropolitan Municipality’s fixed 5 TL student fare and free transportation policy, the number of students using public transportation daily has reached record levels. Between September 8 and October 8, daily ridership exceeded 22,000 students, marking a new record in the city’s transportation history.

Recent data shows that more than 11,000 students use public transportation each day. Before the start of the new academic year, the student fare for Metrobus, ADARAY, and municipal buses was fixed at 5 TL.

According to the latest report following this decision, the demand for public transportation has reached an all-time high.

In addition, the free transportation program launched for primary and secondary school students continues to operate citywide. Positive feedback from families has played a key role in making this practice permanent. According to data from the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation, covering the period between September 8 and October 8, the daily public transport usage among primary, secondary, high school, and university students reached 22,330 passengers.These figures show that for the first time in Sakarya’s history, more than 11,000 students use public transportation every day.
