Sakarya’s exports in January 2026 amounted to USD 559 million, marking a 26.5 percent increase compared to January of the previous year.
Entering 2026 with both a record performance and by maintaining its position as Türkiye’s 7th largest exporting province, Sakarya continued its strong momentum. In January, the top five sectors contributing to Sakarya’s exports were Automotive Industry, Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals, Chemicals and Chemical Products, Electrical and Electronics, and Steel.
In January 2026, Sakarya succeeded in increasing exports in 13 out of 25 main sectors compared to the same month last year. Notable and significant growth was recorded particularly in the Automotive, Electrical and Electronics, Aquatic and Animal Products, Chemicals and Chemical Products, and Mining Products sectors. Including free zones, Sakarya exported goods to 117 destinations worldwide in January 2026. The top five export destinations were Spain, France, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Italy.

Evaluating the export data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) Chairman Akgün Altuğ made the following remarks:
“The burden on our exporters is steadily increasing. In addition, free trade agreements signed by Europe with South American countries and India are causing concern among our exporters. The European Union is our most important trading partner, and these agreements will have negative impacts. We need to take precautions against this situation. Our country’s goal has always been to produce more and export more. Despite all possible scenarios, we are an economy that has grown uninterruptedly for 21 consecutive quarters. With a conciliatory approach, we will respond to all potential scenarios through the quality of our production.”
