The Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO) has launched a reforestation campaign aimed at restoring forest areas and promoting ecological sustainability. SATSO Vice Chairman Cem Gün briefed the chamber members about the campaign during the recent assembly meeting.
In his speech, Cem Gün also addressed the issue of forest fires and stressed the critical importance of selecting the right tree species for post-fire reforestation efforts. “Our debt to nature is not only to repair it, but to rebuild it in a more resilient and sustainable way,” he said.
He emphasized that instead of replanting flammable coniferous trees in burned forest areas, priority should be given to broad-leaved species that retain moisture and are more resistant to fire.

Cem Gün continued:
“Considering Turkey’s climate conditions, native broad-leaved trees such as oak, linden, chestnut, and maple can create a natural line of defense. In our tissue culture laboratory, we are producing saplings that meet this need and we are ready to collaborate with our Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. As SATSO, we are launching a new reforestation campaign under the motto ‘We Grow Together, We Heal Together.”
He noted that the campaign will be conducted entirely through official and secure financial donations via the General Directorate of Forestry. Donors will also have the option to specify the district they wish to support, ensuring their contributions directly help regenerate that particular area.
“With this spirit of solidarity, we will not only fulfill our responsibility to nature but also strive to heal the wounds caused by wildfires,” Gün concluded.
