The “Hungary Country Day” program was organized through the collaboration of the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul and HEPA Türkiye.

Held at the Sakarya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SATSO), the event provided participants with detailed information on investment opportunities in Hungary, the country’s economic structure, trade cooperation prospects, potential sectors for Turkish businesses, and visa-related matters.

During the event, Consul General of Hungary in Istanbul László Keller, HEPA Türkiye General Manager Yalçın Orhon, Commercial Attaché of the Consulate General of Hungary in Istanbul Miklós Bujáky, and HEPA Türkiye Country Manager Emre Cihad Sönmez delivered presentations, answered questions from SATSO members, and shared insights into business and investment opportunities in Hungary.

Speaking about trade cooperation and investment relations between Hungary and Türkiye, Consul General László Keller stated:

“We have been working for many years to strengthen cooperation between our two countries. Similar to Sakarya’s strategic location, Hungary is situated on a major transit route in Europe, making it an important gateway for investors seeking access to European markets. Hungary offers numerous investment opportunities, supported by a wide range of incentives and support programs. Moreover, as a member of the Schengen Area, Hungary enables companies to access the European market of more than 500 million consumers with ease.”

HEPA Türkiye General Manager Yalçın Orhon emphasized the long-term nature of international industrial and commercial cooperation, saying:

“Building industrial and trade partnerships between countries is a long-term process. There are many advantages to mutual investment cooperation between Hungary and Türkiye. As HEPA, we provide guidance and support to companies seeking to conduct business in both countries. Our goal is to contribute to the development of bilateral trade and create a win-win model for both sides.”

Providing practical information for investors, Commercial Attaché Miklós Bujáky highlighted Hungary’s economic advantages:

“Hungary’s annual growth expectations are above the European Union average. More than 60 percent of our exports are directed to European countries. When Turkish companies invest in Hungary, they effectively gain access to European trade markets. We also have a sufficiently skilled workforce for incoming investors, with unemployment remaining at around 4 percent. In addition, we offer significant tax advantages in various sectors. Our consulate will continue to support investors with information and assistance at every stage of their investment journey.”

In his presentation, HEPA Türkiye Country Manager Emre Cihad Sönmez underlined Hungary’s strategic role in European logistics and trade:

“A significant portion of Türkiye’s exports to Europe reaches its destination through Hungary’s highway network. Rather than viewing Hungary solely as an individual market, it should be considered together with its neighboring countries as part of a broader regional market.”
