Work has begun on a project of vital importance for Akgöl, one of the region’s most significant natural assets. Speaking on the matter, AK Party Ferizli District Chairman Rahmi Yılmaz stated that embankment works aimed at protecting Akgöl’s ecological balance have been initiated. Yılmaz also announced that with the tender for the Akgöl Irrigation Project to be held on February 3, approximately 20,000 decares of agricultural land will be equipped with a modern irrigation system.

Providing information about the ongoing efforts to protect Akgöl’s ecological balance and increase agricultural productivity, Rahmi Yılmaz said:“Akgöl has an importance and potential for our city’s ecological balance that is at least as great as Sapanca Lake. Acting with this awareness, embankment works have been launched by our DSİ teams to protect the habitat around the lake, agricultural areas, and water resources. Through these embankment works, agricultural-purpose channels opened from the lower elevation of the lake will be closed, the lake will be cleaned, and its water resources will be preserved. In addition, with the tender for the Akgöl Irrigation Project to be held on February 3, 20,000 decares of land will gain access to a modern irrigation system.”
